Warsaw, New York, March 29, 2011 – Wyoming County officials are pleased to announce the launch of construction on the planned addition and renovation to Wyoming County Community Hospital (WCCH) and Skilled Nursing Facility.  An official ground breaking ceremony will be held at the Hospital on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 1:00 PM.  The public is cordially invited to attend.

The purpose of the capital improvement project is to modernize the aging structure, as well as improve health services and patient access to those services.

One million dollars of the $4.7 million raised by the community will be used to update the main entrance, specifically, of the newly renovated hospital.  The new entrance and the front, expanded parking lot will be on the same level and will be handicap accessible.

Dr. Leon Kuczmarski, Interim Chief Executive Officer of WCCHS says, “WCCH represents the cornerstone of health care in our community, and our goal, with the financial support of the Wyoming County Board of Supervisors, is to invest in our facilities and our equipment in order to provide the highest quality care for our community.”

Concurrent to the hospital addition and renovations, the Skilled Nursing Facility will also be updated, due in part to $4.8 million dollars received in grant funds from HEAL NY (Health Care Efficiency and Affordability Law for New Yorkers).  Providing appropriate care for the county’s senior population is a primary goal for the County.  The upgrades will allow for a more modern facility as well as practical day care settings for non-traditional residents.

Following the groundbreaking ceremony, the public and press are invited to attend the celebration for WCCH’s 100 Year Anniversary, held at the Wyoming County Court House, 147 Main Street, Warsaw from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm (parking is located in the rear of the Court House off of West Court Street).  Join us in celebrating the past, present, and future - a walk through time.
